Robotic Arm Technology Has Rapidly Improved

In some cases, they do the work more quickly, more accurately and more efficiently than human workers ever could. Yet in other instances, they simply perform work that is too monotonous, dangerous or undesirable for men and women. In the US auto industry, for example, there is one robotic arm for every ten workers. Industrial robots lift heavy objects, handle chemicals, and paint and assemble parts. Using a modified robotic arm, Dr. Alon Wolf and Dr. Howie Choset have developed a machine that can perform minimally-invasive surgery with great accuracy. The invention is called the "CardioARM" and has been designed for abdominal surgery. The implant also allowed him to tap into the Internet at Columbia University in New York and control a robotic arm at the University of Reading in the UK. Another one of the experiments tested telepathic communication between two individuals by way of implants. In the 70s, researchers felt that robotic arms would be a vital asset to the workplace. The flexible tele-operated probe is programmed to remember pathways and it can take tools into regions that surgeons would otherwise have to slice into. "Tools in operation rooms are not flexible.

Toyota Avalon: Larger, More Luxurious and More Powerful - Maintain

An estimated fuel economy of 22 city and 31 highway miles per gallon is another amenity of the new redesign. New exterior enhancements include a dual rear exhaust, front chrome grille, and a four-inch longer wheelbase. The extended wheelbase adds to the interior space and comfort of the passengers. Also new are the rear reclining seats, which recline up to 10 degrees. All models in the range feature front seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear side-curtain airbags, in addition to a driver's knee airbag. A brake-assist system determines whether a driver has used the full potential of the brakes in an emergency; if the system senses that more braking is required, ABS will activate until the pedal is released. Comfort is the key word when it comes to the Avalon. The new Avalon is 5 inches longer than its predecessor is, and by rerouting the exhaust pipes, Toyota engineers created a flat floor in the back and 40.9 inches of legroom, versus 35.6 inches in the Lexus ES330. For added comfort, the Avalon's rear seats recline by 10 degrees. It's also more powerful and roomier inside than the Lexus ES330. "The all-new Avalon is distinctive, stylish and the most American vehicle of any Toyota product to date," said Don Esmond, senior vice president and general manager of the Toyota Division in the United States. The Avalon comes equipped with a new 3.5L V6 280-hp engine paired to a five-speed sequential shift automatic transmission. With this new engine, the Avalon can go from 0 to 60 MPH in 6.6 seconds.

The new M6 also uses BMW's new third-generation seven speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) with Drivelogic. Drivelogic offers the choice of 11 different change patterns, depending on the speed of change required. The new SMG gearbox also offers safety benefits when downshifting on slippery surfaces. If it detects the rear wheels locking up, the clutch opens for a fraction of a second to ensure traction is maintained. In automatic mode, the SMG gearbox recognizes that the car is traveling on an incline and holds gears uphill to maintain acceleration and selects lower gears when progressing downhill to make the most of the available engine braking. Partstrain is the leading supplier of BMW discount- priced finest quality BMW Auto Parts. For your performance demands, Partstrain offers electrical parts, exhaust, catalytic converters, grille, head panel, engine parts, spoiler, radiator support, rear body panel, turn signal lights and a whole lot more. The suspension, though similar to that of the M5, is specially tuned to take advantage of the M6's shorter wheelbase and lower center of gravity. Massive cross-drilled brakes enable the M6 to pull up from 60 mph in less than 118 feet. The new M6 also uses BMW's new third-generation seven speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) with Drivelogic. Cold Air Intake: An Awesome Performance Enhancer

With the lower pipe in place we installed the new high-flow air filter next. It'll reside up in the fender where it will be somewhat protected from the elements. However, if you live in a particularly wet environment prone to significant rain, you should consider relocating it directly in the engine compartment as a large amount of ingested water can damage the engine. Here is the urethane sleeve connector for the upper and lower pipes. Before securing the lower pipe with the flange and nut we made sure our connection to the upper pipe was secure. This system is designed to lower the temperature of the air entering your vehicle to maximize the power of your engine; the result is that your car performs better and produces a cool intake noise. Here is the flashy finished product. You'll immediately notice the air intake sound since it's a noticeable growl over stock. Most power will be achieved at higher rpm where additional air is needed most. In addition, a cold air intake system will enhance the appearance of your vehicle's engine bay. Installing a cold air intake system is not a difficult procedure -- you can do it yourself. Stock air box lifts out easily once you've removed the screws that attach it to the fender well.
